Recommended update: LogMeister and EventMeister v4.3.3
Posted by Paul Roberts (Import) on 18 March 2015 06:46 PM

We've just issued a new release of LogMeister and EventMeister, to fix a bug that affects realtime eventlog gathering using the new Windows Eventlog Technology that comes with all OS releases since Vista (e.g. Server 2008, 2012). The bug only affected systems that had a very consistent and rapid flow of events combined with a certain level of cpu and network loading. It caused a backlog of temporary files to build up and also delayed the processing of freshly gathered events. Version v4.3.3 of LogMeister and EventMeister correct this problem, and we therefore recommend that customers upgrade to this new release at their earliest convenience.

You can get the latest installers from our download page here: http://www.logmeister.com/download.shtml

Now here's a quick round up of our other products..

PTFB Pro Version 4.7.1.1

Our popular automation software is now at version 4.7.1.1, with the following enhancements over version 4.7:

- Small optimisation and fail-safe added to item loading from the main data file.
- Changed windows contents checking default for new users. Previously it was "strict"; now the default is "simple" to provide a better out-of-box experience for new users.
- Fixed bug that caused "Forced Delay" macro commands to be ignored when in a tight loop.
- Help file updated.

It's also very slightly smaller than it was before!

Licensed users of PTFB Pro can update to the new version by visiting our download page here. A full list of changes for all releases dating right back to v2 in 2004(!) is available here.

To find out more about PTFB Pro and what it can do for you, please visit PTFB Pro's main site.

PromptPal Version 2.1.1

The most recent release of PromptPal contains a couple of fixes that were requested by our customers:

- Configuration option to limit autocomplete popup width for very long items.
- When "Right-click performs edit->paste" is disabled, right-click now brings up edit context menu.

If you make a lot of use of the command line or find it a daunting but necessary evil, then give the new version a try. You'll be surprised how much time and effort it will save you!

Existing PromptPal customers who bought on or after 1st June 2012 have already been sent out free upgrade licenses for version 2. Those who bought version 1 prior to that date can upgrade at a 50% discount. Emails about this have been sent out, but if you didn't receive anything or have any questions, please either submit a ticket or email us here.

ColorCache Version 5.0

We are happy to introduce version 5 of ColorCache, our tool for creating color schemes for websites. It brings a number of much-requested improvements, including:

  • Totally Redesigned HTML Preview
Whereas version 4 could only operate on locally held, specially formatted html pages, version 5 can now operate on live sites without any modification. Pretty much anything you can view in Internet Explorer can be loaded into the new preview window and instantly trialled with different color schemes you've created.

  • Support for high DPI systems
Customers who are running a recent operating system such as Windows 7/8 and have a high DPI monitor set to use scaling for easier viewing can now enjoy ColorCache at the proper size without any loss of sharpness.

You can obtain the new release here: http://www.colorcache.com/download.shtml

New licenses have already been sent out to customers who qualify for a free upgrade (those purchased on or after 1st July), and upgrade coupons have been sent out to customers who purchased prior to that date. For more details, please visit: http://www.colorcache.com/upgrade.shtml

New releases: PTFB Pro 4.7, PromptPal 2.1.1, LogMeister/EventMeister 4.3.2
Posted by Paul Roberts (Import) on 02 June 2014 10:36 AM

PTFB Pro (our automation software), PromptPal (command line replacement for admins) and our log monitoring tools LogMeister & EventMeister have all received an update this time around.

PTFB Pro Version 4.7

This release includes a bug-fix to deal with an occasional stuck icon problem that seems to occur mostly on Windows 7 & 8, particularly after some recent patches released by Microsoft. It also has two tweaks requested by customers:

- Global option added in Options -> Configure to restrict ProgMon activity to processes residing in the same session as PTFB Pro itself.
- Edit screens for all items now retain last used size/position. Open with CTRL held down to ignore saved size/position.

Licensed users of PTFB Pro can update to the new version by visiting our download page here. A full list of changes for all releases dating right back to v2 in 2004(!) is available here.

To find out more about PTFB Pro and what it can do for you, please visit PTFB Pro's main site.

Updates for LogMeister/EventMeister & PTFB Pro
Posted by Paul Roberts (Import) on 05 March 2014 02:48 PM
PTFB Pro Version 4.6.2.0

This small update gives PTFB Pro the ability to preserve selections from one session to the next. It'll be welcomed particularly by those who trigger macros manually using "Run Now" (or the keyboard shortcut they've defined for Run Now).

Licensed users of PTFB Pro can update to the new version by visiting our download page here. A full list of changes for all releases dating right back to v2 in 2004(!) is available here.

To find out more about PTFB Pro and what it can do for you, please visit PTFB Pro's main site.

LogMeister / EventMeister v4.3.1

LogMeister and EventMeister both get an update to fix a problem with scrolling through aggregate feeds. This is on top of the new functionality already added by v4.3 which includes:

- NEW: Can now define custom views for eventlogs similar to the "custom views" facility in Windows EventViewer on Vista and later, but with the advantage that these views can be used even on older operating systems such as Server 2003.
- CHANGED: Option to limit notifications to "X in Y Minutes" is now applied on a per-feed basis.
- FIXED: In some cases a realtime connection to a remote server could become unresponsive without being detected as such. This has now been rectified.

You can get the latest installers for licensed and trial versions from our download page.

ColorCache Version 5.0

We are happy to introduce version 5 of ColorCache, our tool for creating color schemes for websites. It brings a number of much-requested improvements, including:

  • Totally Redesigned HTML Preview

  • Support for high DPI systems

PromptPal Version 2.0.1

PromptPal has had its first minor update since the initial 2.0 release. Changes in this version:

  • Added: Add robocopy to list of recognized commands with info.
  • Added: Add right click for paste.
  • Added: If default directory has not been set, new tab starts at same directory as current tab.
  • Fixed: On startup, view displayed does not match selected tab.
  • Fixed: CTRL+Z is blocked on Windows 8
  • Fixed: History not being collected in some cases.
  • Fixed: Bad path substitution in Edit -> Insert File
